Ultimate Frisbee: "What is ultimate?" The definition of ultimate developed by the board at the 2001 strategic planning meeting is as follows: "Player defined and controlled non-contact team sport played with a flying disc on a playing surface with end zones in which all actions are governed by the 'Spirit of the Game™." As a Fall co-ed sport offered to junior high and high school students, all levels and abilities are welcome! Practices are Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays through mid October. The team will play 2 league games on Wednesdays at Benedict Park in Tempe. Some optional Saturday tournaments will be offered during and after the season. See you on the field!
Flag Football: Bulldog Flag Football is offered as a co-ed sport for all junior high students (6th-8th grade). Practices are held 2-3 times per week with games twice per week once the season begins. Learn the fundamentals, skills and drills necessary to make the transition to high school football.
Football: With the inaugural season in 2010, New Way football began as a small team practicing in a park and competing in an 8 man league. Over the years, New Way football program has come a long way, it is now a solid program that can put up a fight. With dedicated practices four times per week, access to a strength and conditioning facility as well as off-season program the bulldogs are putting up strong competition come play-off and state finals.
Cross Country: Cross Country allows for students to not only compete to be their individual best, but also have team camaraderie that many other independent sports do not offer. Cross Country is a co-ed sport offered to 5th-12th grade students with practices twice per week and races on Saturday mornings. Students competition and distance is based on age and gender, come on out and run with us!
Swim: This is our third year as a swim team and it is open to students in grades 5th-12th. We welcome eager new and experienced swimmers! Practice begins on Tuesday, August 9th and we will wrap up the season around the last week in October or the first week of November. Practices are from 3:45-5:15 Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at ASU’s Sun Devil Fitness Complex. There are roughly 6 meets throughout the season which are held on Saturday mornings in Queen Creek.
Basketball: High School Basketball holds practice four times a week with an optional open gym on Wednesdays after school. Once the competition season begins, games take place twice a week after school hours. Most of all, we have fun competing and played as a team!
JH Basketball: Junior High Basketball is offered to grades 5th-8th with an emphasis on development of fundamentals and skills necessary for high school competition. Practices are twice per week with one to two games per week once competition begins. Team camaraderie and sportsmanship are a must, and we have a blast while out there in the court!
Cheer: Since 2010, New Way Upper School Cheer has been adding spirit, volume, and energy to New Way events. New Way cheerleaders practice twice a week, cheer at games, and dedicate additional time to making signs, decorating lockers, and increasing the pep at spirit assemblies. Upper School Cheer is open to 7th-12th grade students and includes two separate seasons: football and basketball. Football cheer attends games once a week at various locations throughout the valley. Basketball cheer includes multiple games per week, most of which are held in our very own gym. Cheerleading is a great way to get involved, stay active, and meet new friends!
Baseball: Going into it's third year, the New Way Bulldog baseball team is representing strong competition in the CAA league. Pracitices are held four times per week, with two evening games per week once competition begins. All skill levels are welcome to participate, go Bulldogs!
Soccer: High school soccer is a co-ed competitive Spring sport offered to 9th-12th grade students. Athletes of all skills levels are encouraged to come try-out for the team. Be ready to work hard, hustle and have some fun!
JH Soccer: Junior High soccer is open to students in grades 6-8 of any skill level. Practices are four days a week during the season which runs February through April. The Bulldog soccer program continues to gain popularity every year, as does our level of competition. Soccer is a physically demanding, but very rewarding game. Come join the fun and learn the tactics and fundamentals of the world's most popular sport right here at New Way!
Track and Field: Still a developing sport at New Way, track and field is offered to co-ed athletes grades 6th-12th. The conditioning and training program serves as a fantastic off-season conditioning program for athletes of various other sports. Come on out, there is sure to be an event you love!
